Bringing hope, kindness, and human connection—one message at a time.
Shine Bright Ukraine is a youth-led initiative founded by Mia Wojcik and proudly supported by the Ukrainian Association of Florida (UA Florida). Our project is dedicated to bringing hope, kindness, and human connection to the people of Ukraine through handwritten and digital messages of encouragement.
We believe that compassion has no borders. By connecting people across the world through heartfelt messages, we seek to brighten lives one letter at a time. Every message is a reminder that someone cares, someone is thinking of them, and that hope continues to shine!
Shine Bright Ukraine was started by Mia Wojcik, a 9th grade student in Florida.
Mia started volunteering with ENGin in 7th grade, where she was paired with a Ukrainian girl named Yelyzaveta. Mia and Yelyzaveta met weekly on Zoom to practice language skills and learn about each other's cultures, developing a close friendship. Through their friendship, Mia was inspired to do more to help the people of Ukraine. So she reached out to the Ukrainian Association of Florida to see how she could help make a difference.
In 8th grade, Mia organized a book drive where she collected over 300 children's books and distributed them at UA Florida's Ukrainian Cultural Fest 2025. With the continued support and partnership of UA Florida, Mia is excited to officially launch the Shine Bright Ukraine project at the Ukrainian Cultural Fest 2026.
